There are two very good reasons why the Step Brothers are buying up as many Kyler Murray rookie cards as possible. One, Kyler Murray’s sophomore year is projected to be his breakout year and two, we strongly believe his rookie cards are undervalued considering what he brings to the table. Murray’s 3,722 yards, 64.4% completion rate, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions earned him the 2019 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award and he’s far from done. With DeAndre Hopkins joining Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk, Murray will have enough weapons at his disposal to take the Cardinals to a record far better than his rookie year’s (5-10-1) and make a deep run in the 2020 playoffs. Also, with Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson winning their MVP awards in their 2nd year in the league, could 2020 be Kyler Murray’s MVP year?
While many would agree with us on Murray’s projected meteoric rise in his sophomore year, the trading price of his 2019 rookie cards would say otherwise. Let’s examine two of his most frequently traded/sold rookie cards – his 2019 Panini Prizm #301 and 2019 Panini Donruss #302. From April to June of this year, the prices for either PSA 9 or PSA 10 Prizm didn’t change all that much. There was a slight jump from June to July but we haven’t finished July yet so that’s still undecided. We think the better bargain would be the PSA 9 version below the $100 range. We can see the PSA 10 Prizm of Kyler Murray go as high as $500 if the Cardinals go far in the playoffs.
Murray’s 2019 Panini Donruss #302 rookie card is the absolute bargain. A PSA 10 is currently trading in the $100 – $110 range and if you’re lucky, you might be able to get one below the $100 mark. The PSA 9 copy will run you about $25 but with a 4x multiplier from a PSA 9 to a PSA 10, we think your money will be better invested on a PSA 10 copy.
